Jesse’s Journey to the Law: Interview with Voyage Michigan

Home / Firm News / Jesse’s Journey to the Law: Interview with Voyage Michigan

In its Hidden Gems series, Voyage Michigan spotlights business owners and artists to help bring their talents and services to light for readers across the state. This month, that spotlight falls on our own Jesse Bergwerff, managing attorney at our immigration and estate planning law firm, Parakletos Law PLC.

In the interview, Jesse goes into detail about his career journey. From dropping out of college, to enlisting in the Army, to finishing his degree, to a brief stint in law enforcement, Jesse discusses how he discovered his passion for the law. While he originally considered various other plans, including teaching and being a conservation officer, it was Jesse’s experience working in the Allegan County Friend of the Court that set him on the course he’s been on ever since.

While it might sound like a series of random events, Jesse knows that his becoming an immigration and estate planning attorney was part of a divine plan. He sees God’s guidance in everything he’s experienced and feels that he’s doing exactly what he was always supposed to do with his life.

That’s one of the reasons why he and his wife chose to name his firm Parakletos: it’s based on the Greek word paraclete, which the couple discovered during a Bible study. Paraclete means “advocate,” or one who walks beside another. Jesse bases his on being a companion to his clients in this way, being by their side to help with immigration issues and maintain well-tailored estate plans.

If you need legal help with a family-based visa, are facing possible removal from the U.S. due to criminal charges, or need an estate plan that protects your family in the years to come, Parakletos Law PLC can help. Contact us today to schedule a consultation.
